Can I say we dated when we never had sex

What realy defines a relationship and I'm not talking about the sibling relationship and the friendship codes you have .

I'm talking about a relationship that results from courtship and dating.

After my breakup with my girlfriend of 3 months I came to the realization that it could have been just a fling.out of the many times we hooked up we only locked lips once with no intercourse of curse

Recently she texted me because she wanted to know what made us broke up....As A typical  Kenyan guy of course I answered  that we never broke up because  we never dated.

I assume my underground gang were as annoyed by the answer just as she was.

Well she wanted to know why I thought we never dated since we were calling each other  cringy nicknames like boo and sugar  while still talking

How can she not remember that we never had sex: like we even never saw each other naked. 

The things I did with her I used to do with my other female friends....so assume I should call them my exes too.

Dates and holding hands in public cannot be the basis of someone saying you dated.... atlesst do something you won't do with anyone else....cheating besides of course.
