A Night of Drama and Decisive Results.

The final set of fixtures in Matchday 6 of the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League league phase delivered another batch of high-stakes encounters on Wednesday, 10 December, with qualification hopes on the line and several groups still wide open.

In one of the night’s most anticipated clashes, Manchester City came from behind to defeat Real Madrid 2–1 at the Santiago Bernabéu. After Real Madrid took the lead early through Rodrygo, City turned the game around with goals from Nico O’Reilly and an Erling Haaland penalty, showcasing depth and resilience in a crucial away victory. The result significantly boosts City’s prospects of advancing to the knockout rounds while leaving Real Madrid with work to do in their final games.

Arsenal maintained their perfect group phase record with a convincing 3–0 victory over Club Brugge. The Gunners’ attacking edge was on full display, extending their dominance with a trio of goals that underline their status as real contenders for the Champions League’s latter stages. Their strong performance keeps them firmly on track for progression.

In Baku, Ajax produced a memorable late rally to beat QarabaÄŸ 4–2, scoring three times in the final 15 minutes. Despite falling behind earlier, Ajax’s late onslaught, including a brace from Oscar Gloukh, secured them their first points of the campaign and kept hopes alive in a tight group.

Benfica delivered a crucial 2–0 victory against Napoli, with Richard Rios instrumental in both goals. The win significantly improves Benfica’s chances of progression and adds pressure on Napoli in the race for qualification.

Several key fixtures ended in draws, each with significant group implications:

  • Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle United played out a 2–2 draw, leaving both teams needing results in the final matchday to secure top-eight progression.

  • Borussia Dortmund were held to a 2–2 stalemate with Bodo/Glimt, a result that complicates Dortmund’s qualification picture.

  • Athletic Club and Paris Saint-Germain played to a 0–0 draw, with Athletic goalkeeper Julian Simon starring with multiple saves to frustrate PSG’s attack

Other group matches that wrapped up on the same day included Villarreal vs FC Copenhagen (3–2) and Juventus vs Pafos (2–0), rounding out a packed schedule of pivotal group fixtures.

While FC Barcelona’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt wasn’t on 10 December due to time zone and reporting, there were off-field incidents reported at the Camp Nou during Barcelona’s European fixture involving arrests and crowd disturbances, highlighting security concerns around high-profile matches.

With Matchday 6 now complete, the Champions League league phase moves into its final fixtures, where teams must navigate remaining games to secure qualification or fight for play-off spots. Clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City now hold advantageous positions, while others such as Real Madrid, Leverkusen and Dortmund face tense finales to their group campaigns.

As the competition heads into January, every point and goal difference will matter — proising an exciting conclusion to the group stage.
