The era of dating in this 21st century

Initially, dating was a private affair which involved a meet-up with women, several men plus the parents involved. This was like a matchmaking kind of thing. 

In the African setup, dating first involved making an acquitance with a guy or lady you have met. Then once you have developed this close friendship, you can either proceed or not. It is up-to you. 

Overtime, dating has been 'misused' to a point that it is no longer a long-term thing. It can either be casual or an open relationship. There is also the popular one which is named as Come we stay or Come we risk. 

Nowadays, dating is either done publicly or via online dating platforms. This has been overtaken by the traditional matchmaking process. 

Currently, online dating is the new norm. Some of the common dating sites include Tinder, Afrointroduction.com,tagged.com etc. 

According to a survey conducted in one of the local dailies, couples who met online are more likely to stay together as compared to romances which begun in a more traditional way.
